Things I Want To Buy: Connected Goods

Today’s edition of “Things I Want To Buy” is featuring items from a boutique called Connected Goods. I don’t quite remember how I discovered them, but I love everything they have. They have an amazing curation of goods featuring artisans from around the world who all adhere to strict Fair Trade standards along with emerging independent artists in the US following those same practices. Continue reading to see some of my favorites.

First up is this beautiful woven vine basket. Handcrafted in the indigenous communities of the Colombian Amazon, these baskets can serve a multitude of purposes. From a laundry basket, to storing throws, pillows, or toys, use it as a planter, or pop a little plastic trash bin inside and use it as a pretty trash basket in the bathroom, basically this basket will always have a purpose in your home.

Next are these cute little ceramic candle holders finished in a matte white. They are all handmade in Portland, Oregon so they will have those one of a kind details and perfectly imperfect imperfections. Great to use at a table setting or display in vignettes around the house.

So I have a vision for these half circle hanging baskets. Think the reinvented fruit basket (although I’m sure someone has already done this): hang it on the wall in your kitchen and display your fruit in each basket instead of taking up counter space with a normal fruit basket. These are handmade in Mexico in the mountain town of Cuetzalan. “Each basket is created through a process of curving wood into circular shapes and knotting jonote fibers throughout.” Pretty crafty.

These little guys are cool. They are handmade stoneware canisters that are hand thrown and finished with a matte glaze and smoked technique. The artist is here in America but originates from Alsace, a region of France that has a strong tradition of rural pottery dating back more than 2000 years. Pretty authentic. They also come with cork lids and are food safe! Store your salt or spices in them or just use them as decor!

I love these cotton hand towels! They are beautifully woven and look so soft. Bonus, they are handwoven and hand-dyed by amazing women in Ethiopia. There are other colors available too and are of course machine washable.

These bread bags are perfect for storing leftover bread. Your loaf will stay fresh with the natural moisture retention properties of 100% Belgian linen. They make both a loaf and baguette size so be sure to check out both. These are handmade by artisans in Portland, Oregon. (Portland has all the great artisans it seems).

That’s my quick little round up of things I want to buy from Connected Goods! So go check them out, they have a lot more to see on their site. Let me know in the comments what you think and if you purchase anything!
